BULLET FROM CLAUDE PRICE'S PISTOL TAKES EFFECT.

Harvey McHargue Dangerously Wounds Enemy and is Himself Killed.

Somerset, Ky., Jan. 9. -- In an altercation between Harvey McHargue and Claude Price at Shopville, in the eastern part if this county, last night. McHargue was shot through the heart while Price was stabbed and now lies in a precarious condition at his home. County Judge Barnett, in the absence of the Coroner is now on his way there to hold an inquest over the body of McHargue. The trouble occurred in the yard of McHargue's home.

Reports from there say the trouble arose over the ordering of Price to refrain from calling at McHargue's home to see a young woman staying there. McHargue was shot through the heart by Price and died instantly. Price received a severe wound in the back, but may recover.

McHargue was postmaster at Shopville and also conducted a generally merchandise store. He was about fifty years' of age. [1]

In an altercation at Shopville, Pulaski county, between Postmaster Harvey McHargue and Claude Price, McHargue was shot and killed and Price probably fatally stabbed.  The trouble is said to have resulted from McHargue ordering Price to refrain from calling on a young woman in the postmaster's home. Harvey McHargue, postmaster at Shopville, was shot dead at his home by Claude Price, whom he had ordered to stop calling on his daughter.  He stabbed Price through the shoulder as Price turned to flee. [3]

Killed in a Duel.

Louisville, Ky. -- In an altercation at Shopville, Ky., between Postmaster McHargue and Claude Price, McHargue was shot and killed and Price was fatally stabbed. The trouble is said to have resulted from McHargue ordering Price to refrain from calling on a young woman in the postmaster's home. [4]

Claude Price, aged 17, was acquitted of the killing of W. H. McHargue, aged 50, in Pulaski. [5]
